Tricia Enns (Montreal)
STEP ONE: 1KM AREA

STEP 2: VENTS...
vents represent breath. breathing humans and buildings. but also pollution. vents nudge towards the layers that go unseen as we walk. the "unsightly". the things we try to hide. forget. what happens if they are focused on and become the point of desire as i walk.
2) a) Mapped where they are

2) b) recorded the vents humbly performing
i notice how the vents take on new meaning. additional value. the vents perform but also act as instruments. each with a different pitch. rhythm. the hum of the vents guide my feet. drawing me into crevices, back alleys, and outside bedroom windows.

STEP THREE: COMBINING, dare I say COMPOSING
bringing the sounds and videos of the vents (and a few natural gas pipes together) created a symphony of the city. an exposure of respiration often gone unnoticed.
ATTEMPT #1: screen recording
i wanted it to be organic. as if it was a live performance full of stops and starts and "mistakes". it did not work. the audio could not be recorded using screen recording.

ATTEMPT #2: a video. the "final" work.
